When politicians, journalists and members of the general public refer to the opinions or attitudes of older people, they often make assumptions about how we think and feel. Images like the "selfish" baby boomer are based on simple generalities which belie the diverse range of ages, background and beliefs that characterise people in the over 50s age group.
COTA NSW has scythed through the stereotypes with some hard-hitting and surprising insights into the mind of NSW residents aged 50+. We'll be launching our 2022 50+ report What Older People Think at our webinar on Thursday May 19, with some high-profile speakers to add their experience and knowledge to the mix.
The speakers are:
Feyi Akindoyeni – communications consultant with with Newgate Research, which undertakes research on behalf of COTA around Australia.
Aunty Norma Ingram – local Aboriginal elder and chair of the Wyanga Aboriginal Aged Care Program.
Jenna Price – journalist, co-founder of feminist group Destroy the Joint and Visiting Fellow at the Crawford School of Public Policy at ANU.
Lex Marinos – ctor, director, writer, comedian, broadcaster, teacher and co-host of 'The Baby Boomer's Guide to Life in the 21st Century'.
