Exercise to prevent falls in older people

Training for allied health professionals includes online learning and a half-day practical workshop.

You’ll be equipped with essential knowledge and skills to design safe and effective community falls prevention physical activity and exercise programs for older adults.

Topics include:

  • the social and economic issues of falls

  • risk factors for falls

  • physiological consequences of ageing

  • maximising uptake and adherance to exercise programs

  • biomechanical and physiological principles of balance

  • effective falls prevention strategies

Through structured learning tasks, participants will gain the ability to identify, develop, demonstrate, and implement evidence-based exercise interventions.

Participants are required to complete the pre-workshop online modules to attend this half-day face-to-face practical skills workshop.

CPD: Participants will be eligible to self report 6 hours; 3 hours pre-workshop online modules, and 3 hour practical face-to-face workshop.
