Is the Commonwealth Home Support Programme right for me?

As you get older, everyday tasks can become more difficult. Asking for assistance when you need it can help you live safely and independently in your own home.

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) helps older Australians access basic in-home support.

The program works with you to maintain your independence rather than doing things for you.

To be eligible, you must be aged: 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), or 50 years or older (45 years or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), on a low income and homeless, or at risk of being homeless.

CHSP is right for you if you have trouble with everyday tasks and think basic support can improve your health and wellbeing. If your needs are more complex, you might be better suited to a Home Care Package.
