Roundtable tackles financial abuse of older people

Age Discrimination Commissioner Robert Fitzgerald AM recently hosted the second Financial Elder Abuse Roundtable, bringing together leaders from banking, finance, advocacy, and government.

The group explored how banking codes and financial counsellors and advisors can help prevent and respond to elder abuse.

The roundtable is part of a broader push to establish the Financial Elder Abuse Action Collaborative — a cross-sector initiative the Commissioner has championed since late 2024 to better protect older Australians from financial exploitation by loved ones and trusted people.
