The recommendation comes after research finds that existing Tasmanian and Commonwealth laws do not provide systematic or comprehensive legal framework that safeguards against the abuse of older people.

"They will provide that overarching approach that can be an essential point of contact for people to raise concerns, report concerns around abuse and then that coordination to ensure that there is oversight of the responses that occur."
