It will focus on the rights and needs of older people. The reforms are both significant and complex. You or someone you care about may be affected by the changes.

COTA Australia and the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) are hosting community information sessions across the country.

These sessions will provide you with an opportunity to:

  • learn about the new Aged Care Act and what it means in practice

  • understand what will change in the aged care system

  • ask questions and receive clear information

  • share your views and experiences to help guide the rollout.

Older people must be at the heart of this reform.

That’s why COTA and OPAN are encouraging older people, their families, carers, and community members to attend and contribute to the conversation.

For LGBTI communities, these reforms present an opportunity to advocate for inclusive, affirming aged care that respects diversity. Your voice matters in ensuring aged care services are safe, welcoming, and responsive to the needs of LGBTI older people.
