What is the study about?

This Monash University healthy ageing study will evaluate the new LiveUp self-assessment tool. LiveUp is a free digital healthy ageing guide which includes a personal roadmap to help you to make small changes in your lifestyle that may improve your independence.

Who can take part?

We want to learn from older people who live at home and who are beginning to experience some functional difficulties, or who are keen to stay healthy and active. If you live on the Mornington Peninsula or in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs, you are invited to take part in Monash University study. We are seeking older Australians who are:

  • living at home and able to use a computer or mobile device;

  • motivated to remain as independent as possible;

  • beginning to have challenges in cutting your toenails, walking outdoors or getting up from the floor, or

  • receiving services from a community care organisation to help at home

What’s involved?

Over about three months, an allied health professional will visit your home to conduct some assessments before and after using LiveUp. You will be asked to complete a short survey to capture your experiences using LiveUp.

Study benefits

We will provide a written summary of your assessments for your information. We will also share a summary of the research results when the project concludes. This research provides participants with the opportunity to explore digital solutions via a website for preventive self-management, and to have assessments of physical function, mental well-being and quality of life with a qualified occupational therapist or physiotherapist. The results will benefit the growing population of older Australians wishing to avoid functional decline and daily living problems, or who may have some difficulties with daily living.
