The Elders Council plays a vital role in guiding NATSIAACC’s work – providing cultural advice and insight on issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples accessing, or needing to access, ageing and aged care services.

This is an opportunity to ensure that the voices, experiences, and cultural knowledge of our Elders and Older People are embedded in the national conversation on ageing and aged care.

NATSIAACC is seeking:

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 years or over

  • those who have received aged care services (or can speak to the needs of those who have)

  • Elders and Older People who are passionate about improving access to culturally safe, trauma-aware, and healing-informed care for our people

  • One Member from each state and territory across Australia

Members will:

  • attend a minimum of two meetings per year (plus at least one with the NATSIAACC Board). These meetings will be online (with one meeting every two years being in-person at a location agreed by the Council Members)

  • receive sitting fees and have travel costs covered

  • serve a three year term, helping shape culturally safe aged care policies and services nationwide

Please note: applications for each state/territory will stay open until the position is filled.
