Fighting back: Commission crackdown on family members doing the wrong thing

Adult kids are most likely to be accused of abuse against older people and those with a disability, with new data showing reports to NSW's top guardian more than doubling over the past five years.

Some 18,896 reports were received by the NSW Ageing and Disability Commission between 2019 and 2024, accounting for a 109 per cent increase, with more than three quarters of reports relating to older people, and almost 5000 for older people who also had a disability.
