Colin Kaeser, who spent 12 years as a magistrate in the Family Court of Western Australia, allegedly shifted funds from his mother’s accounts to his own mortgage offset account while she was battling dementia.

The alleged theft of $637,848 took place between October 2020 and August 2021, when Mr Kaeser was still serving as a magistrate.

Mr Kaeser’s mother, Eva Kaeser, was battling dementia at the time of the transactions and Mr Kaeser was her plenary guardian and administrator.

She died in February last year.

Police allege Mr Kaeser transferred the funds to his mortgage offset account. Those transactions, they allege, were made without the appropriate approval from WA’s State Administrative Tribunal.
