Established more than five years ago, the reference group meets every two months to ensure OPAN’s advocacy work is guided by the lived experiences and views of older people on the issues that matter to them.
The refreshed group brings together 36 members — 22 new and 14 returning — chosen from more than 150 applicants through a competitive selection process.
OPAN CEO Craig Gear said the strong level of interest highlighted older Australians’ determination to have a meaningful say in the future of aged care
"We were encouraged by the quality and diversity of applications and the resulting group reflects both continuity and renewal," Mr Gear said.
"With members from across Australia, including from metropolitan, regional, rural and remote areas, we're able to ensure a wide range of perspectives are represented."
