Sutherland campaign calls out abuse against seniors

Twelve year old Amalia Sicardi is the latest recruit in a community effort to protect seniors.

The talented artist has lent her drawing skills to a series of graphic tiles, which the Collaborative Against Abuse of Older People in Sutherland Shire hope will change hearts and minds.

Every year, one in 20 seniors will be abused by someone they should be able to trust and the most common abusers are close family members. Now is a particularly dangerous time.

Frankly, all the risk factors that make older people vulnerable to physical, sexual, emotional and financial abuse and neglect are much higher due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
