NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Board - Annual Report 2024–25

The NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) Board has released its Annual Report for 2024–25, marking two years since VAD began in NSW.

The report shows the system is working as intended, with legal safeguards in place and over 200 people supported through their volunteer witnessing program.

Families and friends share deeply moving stories of loved ones choosing a peaceful, dignified death.

This milestone highlights the importance of compassionate, safe end-of-life choices and the vital support provided to those navigating the VAD process.

There were 1028 VAD deaths during the year. VAD became available in NSW in November 2023, making it the last state to introduce the measure.
