With Home Care transitioning to a new program, beginning 1 July 2025, a checklist has been released to help recipients prepare.
As a response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, the Federal Government’s Home Care system is transforming into a new service called Support At Home.
These changes will affect many older Australians. The latest 2025 data from the National Seniors Social Survey shows approximately 16% of our respondents aged 70-plus use home care with around 30% planning or thinking about using it in the future.
To support the transition, the Department of Health and Aged Care has released new information about how and when these changes will occur.
The department says Support at Home “will bring together current in-home aged care programs, ensuring a simpler and more equitable system for older people that helps them to stay at home for longer”.
