Legal Services Commission SA

Legal information, help and services for a range of legal issues. Additionally, there is information provided specifically for practicing lawyers.

The Legal Services Commission (also known simply as legal aid) is the largest provider of free legal help in SA.

It delivers a variety of services including those that help to protect older South Australians and uphold their rights.

Commission lawyers provide free legal advice about a range of common legal issues including those relating to elder abuse and the treatment of older people.

For free legal help, call the Commission’s Legal Help Line on 1300 366 424 in office hours or go to our website.

The Commission seeks to give all South Australians equal access to justice through the legal system, providing free legal information, legal advice, and legal education to all.

To those most in need, legal representation is also provided, principally in the areas of criminal law, family law and child protection. The Commission has also been involved in advising and supporting victims of family and domestic violence since the 1990s, and it operates a Women’s Domestic Violence Court Assistance Service at city and suburban Magistrates’ Courts, and a dedicated Domestic Violence Unit at Elizabeth.
