Redfern Legal Centre

Free legal advice, referral and casework to disadvantaged people living in the City of Sydney, Botany Bay and Leichhardt local community.

Redfern Legal Centre (RLC) is a community legal centre dedicated to increasing access to justice and advancing human rights.

Founded in 1977, RLC was the first community legal centre established in NSW.

RLC provides free, confidential legal advice and casework in specialised areas of law. Some of RLC’s legal services are for people living in specific areas who meet eligibility criteria, and other services are available across NSW.

Statewide services:

  • Financial Abuse Legal Service NSW (Note, this service does not advise on elder abuse)

  • International Student Legal Service NSW

  • Police Accountability

  • Employment Rights Legal Service (a service delivered in partnership between Kingsford Legal Centre, Inner City Legal Centre and RLC)

Catchment area:
(serving Redfern and 40+ other Sydney suburbs)

  • First Nations Justice

  • Health Justice Partnership

  • Inner Sydney Tenants’ Advice and Advocacy Service

  • Credit, Debt and Consumer Law

  • Discrimination and Human Rights

RLC can also provide advice in other areas of law to people experiencing disadvantage, including:

  • People with disability

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and

  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
