  • High levels of family conflict can cause real harm to older persons, leaving their wishes, needs and dignity overshadowed by disagreements.

Join Elder Abuse Action Australia for a session presented by Relationships Australia South Australia, exploring Australia’s first pilot of Eldercaring Coordination - an approach to addressing family conflict while keeping older persons at the centre.

Nick Tebbey, National Executive Officer of Relationships Australia, will guide the conversation. He’ll be joined by Al Pearce from Relationships Australia South Australia, who will share insights from the pilot.

Bringing their perspectives from Adelaide University are Adjunct Professor Dale Bagshaw, Associate Professor Ben Livings and Professor Eileen O’Brien.

Drawing on the South Australian pilot, our presenters will explore what worked, what didn’t, and what the experiences of clients and practitioners can teach us about supporting older persons and their families.

    Together, we’ll explore:

  • The approach: What is eldercaring coordination, and how did it develop?

  • The Australian pilot: How was the approach adapted and put into practice?

  • The experiences: What did clients and practitioners share about their involvement?

  • The lessons: What could the findings mean for future services?

Whether you work directly with older persons, support families or help shape services, join us to consider how we can respond to complex family conflict while centring the voice, needs and dignity of the older person.
