Advanced Responder Workshop - What Service Providers should know

Responding to Elder Abuse - What Service Providers should know.

Last updated: 20 May 2026

Providing safe, respectful, and abuse-free care is a core responsibility of every aged care service. The Responding to Elder Abuse workshop is a specialised, practice-focused session designed to strengthen your organisation’s capacity to confidently identify, assess, and respond to elder abuse.

This workshop is specifically for service providers who have previously completed the Train the Trainer workshop and are responsible for responding to abuse concerns involving older people.

Through real-world scenarios and guided discussion, participants will build practical skills to support ethical decision-making, collaborative responses, and trauma-informed practice aligned with sector expectations and regulatory standards.

Key Learning Areas

Participants will explore and apply best-practice approaches across the following areas:

  • Reinforcing a zero-tolerance approach to elder abuse

  • Working collaboratively with internal teams and external services

  • Assessing risk levels and determining appropriate responses

  • Exploring response options and intervention pathways

  • Applying intervention principles in complex situations

  • Managing privacy and confidentiality in practice

  • Reviewing APP case examples to support applied learning and discussion
