B is for Boomers

The free webinar for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2027 examines the use of the term Boomer and older people's strategies for protecting themselves from internalised gerontism (the form or ageism experienced by older people). The webinar is an initiative of Celebrate Ageing's Dictionary of Gerontism.

Presentations include

• Linguist Professor Kate Burridge will outline corpus linguistics, or online research on how the term 'Boomer' is used in the real life written and spoken language

• Dr Catherine Barrett will present findings of Citizen Research exploring older people's responses to Boomer Blaming and their strategies to protect themselves from Boomer Shaming (internalised gerontism).
