Part 1: Foundations includes introductory information regarding the experiences & needs of older LGBTI+ people to provide staff/services supporting older people in the community with basic awareness & a foundation on which to build rights-based, LGBTI+ inclusive care & support.
This 2-hour, online session is delivered via Zoom for staff working across CHSP &/or supporting older people in community care settings. The session will provide participants with the following:
Information about the aged care sector requirements, frameworks & reforms regarding LGBTI+ rights-based person-centred care
Awareness of LGBTI+ people, communities: terminology, definitions & history
Key aspects & issues of LGBTI ageing
* The focus of this session is on basic awareness. Part 2 focuses on development of LGBTI+ inclusive actions.
