What is WA Police doing about elder abuse?

In Western Australia, Elder Abuse typically falls within the broader definition of Family Violence (as defined in the Restraining Orders Act 1997). Family Violence continues to be a significant priority for WA Police who have a dedicated Family Violence Division. WA Police are a significant contributor to State Government online resources and provide support and advice on this issue to members of the community as required.  Allegations of elder abuse will be investigated under existing criminal legislation.

If you, or an older person that you know, is at risk or experiencing elder abuse and mistreatment in Western Australia, you can call the WA Elder Abuse Helpline and Information Service on 1300 724 679 (available Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm). All calls are confidential, and support services can be arranged if needed.

Further information regarding elder abuse support services and resources in Western Australia is available at Elder Abuse Support Services and Resources page.
