Five-star ratings for non-compliant aged care facilities

Research into the government's star rating website found dozens of non-compliant homes are scoring 3, 4 and 5 stars, against the government's own guidelines.

The government launched a star rating system for aged care facilities in 2022, enacting a recommendation of the aged care royal commission.

According to research there are dozens of aged care facilities awarded up to 5 stars and yet they remain non-compliant - industry experts label the ratings system "deceptive".

What's next? The Aged Care Commissioner says the system is working to see compliance issues fixed.
