Susan is an older woman who moved from the city to the outback, to be closer to her children and grandchildren. However, shortly after moving in with her daughter, her daughter obtained access to her finances, with Susan’s agreement, and would occasionally pay bills for Susan. After some time, Susan discovered that her daughter had taken large amounts of money from Susan’s account and used them for her own benefit. This caused Susan great distress, and she bravely sought assistance from her new friends at the Seniors Living Well Activity Group. They assisted her to connect with the Police and ADA’s SLASSS program.
The Police and ADA are now assisting Susan. She agreed to a letter of demand with a payment plan, and her daughter has now been making regular repayments. The Police have assisted Susan to put a Domestic Violence Order in place, and she was assisted to obtain independent accommodation.
Susan now reports feeling safer, and one day may rebuild her relationship with her daughter.
