How to keep your money and assets safe

This helpful factsheet gives information on how to protect your savings and assets, danger signs to look out for, and what to do if you think you or someone you know is a victim of elder financial abuse.

This information is from the Seniors Legal and Support Service at Caxton Legal Centre. The service is funded by the Queensland state government.

It offers free, confidential, legal and social work services to older people to help them deal with harm or neglect by trusted family members or friends.

Of the series, this is the most applicable to family agreements.

It begins with a list of examples of common ways money can be misused. This is followed by a short, bullet point discussion of the different ways things can go wrong and some tips for safeguarding.
