COTA Tasmania's new Age-Friendly Language Guide has been developed to help individuals and organisations communicate in ways that are respectful, inclusive and free from ageist stereotypes. It encourages us to focus on people's strengths, contributions and individuality, while recognising that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of age.
Designed for everyone, the guide provides practical advice for customer service teams, workplaces, community organisations, health services, media and anyone who communicates with or about older people. It includes simple dos and don'ts, messaging tips, guidance on inclusive imagery, and practical examples to help create more age-friendly conversations and communities.
