Awabakal is a community controlled health service, delivering culturally appropriate health care services, advocacy and social and emotional support to our people.

Awabakal services:

  • Medical Service
    An Aboriginal community-controlled health service, which aims to deliver culturally-appropriate primary health care services, advocacy and social and emotional support to Aboriginal people and their families in our community.

  • Mental Health
    Awabakal Medical Clinics offer a range of mental health services that are available across all of our clinics. These include Psychiatry, Psychology, access to Social Workers and counselling services.

  • Disability Services
    Awabakal offer culturally-appropriate disability services through a devoted team of care workers who are carefully selected and supported by our professional management team. All our staff are experienced and sensitive to the needs of the Aboriginal community.

  • Aged Care Services
    Awabakal Aged Care Services staff will work with you to develop what is known as 'My Story'. This will include asking questions about your family, your history and your health. From here you’ll be supported to improve your physical, mental and social health.”

  • Housing Management
    We are a Registered Community Housing Provider under the National Regulatory System - Community Housing Provider Tier 3, and currently manage privately-owned properties, as well as properties for the NSW Aboriginal Housing Office in the Newcastle, Maitland and Central Coast areas.
