Compassion Fatigue And Healthy Boundaries Workshop

Carers WA

Carers WA presents an interactive workshop for carers exploring some of the common challenges experienced when caring for a family member, friend or loved one. Compassion fatigue is a natural part of the caring role and can often result in feeling burnt out. One of the best preventatives for burn-out is having clear boundaries and being able to communicate them effectively.

Together, we will practice self-supporting behaviours and learn skills to create longevity and resilience within the caring role. This engaging workshop will include reflective tools and strategies for you to take home.

New ageing resource - KeepAble

According to research, the key to ageing well and living a good quality of life for longer is to compress functional decline by living more healthy years rather than just living longer. This can be achieved by:

  • moving regularly – through everyday activities and exercise
  • staying socially connected
  • maintaining a balanced diet, and
  • having a sense of purpose.

KeepAble aims to do what the name suggests. We’re dedicated to finding and sharing evidence-based research, resources and real-life stories about ageing well, so older people can live well for longer.

Forum 2: Driving Long-Term Change – Australia's Response to Elder Abuse

EAAA

This forum will discuss what Australia has achieved and what more must be done to end elder abuse since the Australian Law Reform Commission’s “Elder Abuse – A National Legal Response” report was released in June 2017, and the release of the Commonwealth’s “National Plan to Respond to the Abuse of Older Australians (Elder Abuse) 2019-2023” in March 2019. The webinar is the second in the Walk the Talk Forum Series 2021. These important conversations will continue in the 7th National Elder Abuse Conference in Hobart in February next year.
